Our History
The great community collaborative!
Gifts for Seniors provides donated gifts with life-affirming personal contact for isolated seniors through the engagement and critical support of individual donors, corporate sponsors, local volunteers, and community partnerships. We began as a county volunteer program in 1994 with an annual holiday gift drive for isolated seniors. The program has grown significantly and became an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2008. Gifts for Seniors now serves over 7,000 socially isolated older adults with year-round programming support.
The Gifts for Seniors model is simple, but effective.
Donors provide new, unwrapped gifts.
Volunteers bundle and wrap the gifts with a handwritten card.
Community partners select and personally deliver gifts to the seniors they serve — with that they also give the important gift of a social visit. The gifts are sure to bring joy, but quite often they are a much-needed resource for health and well-being.
Gifts for Seniors is governed by an independent board of volunteer trustees who coordinate the work of hundreds of volunteers. If you are interested in supporting our work in the community, please reach out today!
