Is the SunShine Club what you’re looking for?
Gifts
for Seniors created the SunShine Club as an opportunity for donors
to shop for, and contribute gifts to, specific seniors who have
unique needs.
The
SunShine Club Coordinator matches individual donors – SunShine
Club members - with an elderly client who has been referred because
of his or her unique needs.
The
senior citizens referred are without friends and family and aren’t
expected to receive any other gifts during the winter holidays.
The range for a gift(s) through the SunShine Club is typically
between $50 and $100 per senior.
Sometimes
the situation is unique and the staff or volunteers who assist
the senior know just the right type of gift that could help the
most.
The
SunShine Club members receive a copy of the SunShine Club referral
for the senior to use in selecting a gift(s). The referral includes
the senior’s first name, age group, and a little bit about
him or her. The identity of all seniors and donors is confidential
– we are careful to as to what information is shared with
others.
Sometimes
the elder’s clothing size is not the norm and something
that really fits would bring a lost smile back.
The Club member
wraps the gift and attaches a gift tag (provided by Gifts for
Seniors) with the elder's name. The Club member may choose
to include his/her first name on the gift tag as the donor. The
Club member delivers the wrapped gift(s) to the Internal
Operations Center in Roseville at a pre-selected time arranged
with the Sunshine Club Coordinator. The referring agency staff or
volunteers pick up the gift(s) at the IOC and deliver the gift(s)
to the elder.
Sometimes costly items like orthopedic shoes are needed so the
senior can get up and get to the places that can get them connected…..receiving
a gift certificate from the shoe store for partial cost of the
shoes can make a real difference.
